CORRECTIONS

Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. Additional services and programs include education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence, barber styling school, nail technician, women’s empowerment, substance abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.

FIRE/EMS

The Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (Fire/EMS) Department strives to improve the quality of life in Prince George’s county by promoting safety, and providing the highest quality of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency medical services, and community outreach programs.

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY POLICE

Formalized in 1927 as a four-man County police force, today out Police Department (PGPD) serves approximately 800,000 citizens throughout the County. In 2012, the Department answered close to 500,000 calls for service.

OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF

The Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing services that are fair, impartial, and effective while incorporating the highest standards of personal conduct and performance. The employ skilled dedicated professionals, committed to public service.

HOMELAND SECURITY

The Office of Homeland Security is responsible for planning, coordinating and domestic preparedness training and coordinated the county’s emergency management effort with various jurisdictions. Their mission is to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency management programs.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) focuses people, plans, and programs to promote a prepared and resilient County.
